Did the person try OTA or Kies? It's on Kies.

For a company of Samsung's size, it is a shame that users cannot get updates OTA on demand.

Ofcourse samsung is busy with adding its bloatware to the stock android ..thats why its late.

late is fine. but once it is done and ready to roll out, what is the problem with rolling it out to everyone?
i mean do not push it to all people simultaneously. but let people who are pulling it have it?

It has always been like this with Samsung, did your friend try KIES?

But then Google Nexus follows the same thing. But the Google Services Framework trick usually works.

Opened kies, but it asks to update the Kies first... :angry:

Samsung KIES is just like Nokia PC Suite. You would update and then it would require more updates. After some further updates it would ask you to download the latest update for the phone you have. And then probably it would ask for another update that would let you update the software on your phone using Kies.

Finally got it updated to JB thru KIES yesterday night....this experience made me to not get any samsung phones in future....

Well, I got rid of TouchWiz completely.
AOSP 4.2.2 Here 🙂
