Flipkart to acquire eBay India; raise up to $2bn funding

India’s biggest ecommerce company Flipkart is acquiring eBay’s operations here in a deal structured as part of a $2 billion capital raising. This replenishes its war-chest in its fight with Amazon for market share on its home turf.

Two people familiar with the talks told FactorDaily that eBay’s India unit, which is a distant sixth in terms of market share after Flipkart, Amazon, Shopclues, Paytm and Snapdeal in India’s $15 billion e-commerce market, will get folded into Flipkart as part of the transaction.

Ebay is suddenly asking me to pay 12Rs for the item I sold using ebay almost 7-8 years back.

I did not even know about this charge at that time!

This charge is in addition to 4% Paisapay charge they had already deducted from final payment that I received.

So they charged me 4% that time and now suddenly asking me to pay additional 12Rs.

So all the eBay India sellers have to restart all over again on Flipkart?

Probably they must have (should have) already opened account on Flipkart and Amazon.

Because eBay wasnt fetching many customers anyway after the rise of Flipkart and entry of Amazon.
