In my area TATA is providing connections over pppoe ( ppp on ethernet ) . The guys who come for install makes a pppoe connection in control panel which you can dial like normal dialup connection . But as everything is on ethernet you can always sniff for arp packets to see which IP ranges are accessible from your place . First day i got connection i fired up wireshark and got some 172.*.* ip ranges which was sending lot of arp packets so by manually giving this ip to my lancard i was able to scan all 210.211.*.* ip ranges without even dialing in my pppoe connection . Now just a few ip range scans for proxy ports 6588,3128,1080 gives lot of free internet proxies 😀 . This works even if your account is expired i guess . I assume this kind of jhol is even possible on every other isp providing pppoe connections . I also have many tricks for sify ( 2-3 years no renewal 😛 ) but they are fixed somewhat and i have stopped using sify for now . I will post about them later sometime .Sorry for posting here but we dont have backroom for tata yet .Perhaps now some people might understand why i like tata so much 😛 .

Would this work with MTNL? Will give a go.........

MTNL doesnot have LAN concept, so even if u find open proxy, the data coming from that proxy will be accounted in ur logs

Yeh this wont work on MTNL most probably bcoz even if u put router in bridge or pppoe mode i doubt u will ever receive broadcast traffic .

Yeah, as I thought so, nothing to break into MTNL, mumbai........ 🙁No unlimited plan, no flaw, NU costing 849...mtnl, mumbai sucks......but still is the best bec of speeds/acceptable downtime ratio...........
