Facing Airtel Frequent disconnection problem

What could be the cause? Already called Airtel and they will pay a visit today. But just wanted to know the reasons behind this issue. This is the second time I'm calling them to fix this up

your downstream snr margin is low. 6.0 is bare minimum, whenever it falls below 6 you will start getting disconnections. ideally snr margin of 8+ is required to have a stable connection. i think your line is unable to handle 16mbps. i suggest you downgrade to 8mbps to get stable connection
 
Either shift to 8mbps or ask them to lower line rate, such that you'll get a little less than 16mbps.

Getting SNR margin of 8.1 when I switch to G.DMT. But Data Rate decreases to 12 mbps
 
My disconnection problem is fixed after they changed the wiring of my house. And why should I stay on 8 mbps speed when I'm paying for 16 mbps?
