Nothing complicated about it, as long as the avg packet loss stays within 1-5% range you won't see many problems and then there's latency which keeps jumping up & down in between the pings. It's still not ideal considering that's local gateway 10.0.0.1 I'm pinging but it's a shitty consumer grade connection. What I've observed is that there's a three hour window between 4-7 AM when packet loss is at lowest, even 0% at times during the period.
