I have the 199 2G post paid plan with Airtel in which I get 1GB free data in my billing cycle.

Mid cycle I activated the 100rs 250mb 3G pack via sms.
One day later airtel barred my data services and have now sent me bill in which they have charged Rs4000+ for data.
Even though I have only used 775mb 2g data and 40mb 3g data.

1. I didn't change the plan
2. I didn't exceed the 1Gb data limit.

the customer care and nodal are just giving me absurd theories but are only willing to waive Rs1000 from bill.

So I want to know from this community members.

1. Is the bill fair ?
2. will my case have any merit if I approach consumer court ?

acc. number with airtel: 1026281561

Though I am also writing to gain some knowledge on this forum, but my sincere advise is that go for PREPAID PLANS ONLY BE IT ANY NET WORK

My Plan was never changed. I Just took the 3G pack and they prorated my 2G data pack.
Charged me the full plan charge of 199 + 100Rs for 3G pack + data at 10p/10kb

I sincerely advise everyone to not go for postpaid, especially with airtel.

Damn. Sounds like typical airtel.

I'm still curious, on what date was the 3G pack activated?

The system might have calculated usage on a pro rata basis.

My billing cycle is from 2 to 2, 3G pack was taken on 14th.
Yes, obviously the system calculated on prorata basic.

further data services were barred from 15 june to 16 july, because due to prorata calculations the usage had gone above the limit.

I was about to face this but got sorted out by calling them and also visiting the Relationship center. From my knowledge and experience, when 3g is activated, 2g plan gets deactivated, and vice versa.

So according to ur explanation, and my deduction :

3g plan = 250 Mb
U used = 775+40= 815 Mb

Surplus Data : 815 Mb-250 Mb = 565 Mb = 578560 kb
Surplus Charged = 578560/10=57856*3ps=173568/100= Rs. 1735.68(Considering 3ps/10KB 3g rate)

If possible post an image of your bill second page.

Cheers
