evdo capitel connect reconnecting problem

Hey friends, ive been using evdo for the past 4 years, i have a problem since switching to prepaid plan last year. Whenever the connection is cut abruptly like during a power outage, the modem fails to detect 3g evdo signal when it is restarted. I can only connect at 1x and the 3g signal comes back after a long time at times 2-6hrs. The return of the signal usually occurs along with a message of data use coming in the inbox. It would be a lot of help if anyone could help me find a solution to this problem. Thanks.
