hi, I may sound silly, but still this question lingers within. Why do we go for DTH service(leave out the quality) and not sticking with the cable TV operator who charges Rs.100/- PM and would be telecasting Cricket when India plays...

Right now you have a choice of cable or DTH....but like any other electronics gadgets like VCR( replaced by VCD DVD), CRT Monitor, CRT TV ( replaced by LCD Plasma),regular CD drive floppy drive ( both replaced by DVD drive) landline telephone almost replaced by Mobile....even cable TV will be gone and only DTH will be there...in fact in US cable is redundant.
So you are not silly...we are forced to change by techonology.Let us accept it and enjoy the marvel of change.:dance:

Wrong... In US, cable and DTH coexists for past several years. Cable is still the number one source considering the number of HD channels, coz there is a limitation in number of HD channels beamed by DTH.

Here in Vizag, there alwayz goes a cable war.. operators diconnect channels to their wish, even thouh the clarity is good but we cant bear their menance. One cable guy.. cuts other guyz cable.. and services interrupted for hours if not days. So, we thought enuf is enuf and switched on to SD. This is is jst one example.. many othr ex can follow..

I switched to DTH just because SD is offering almost all the Malayalam Channels, which is not offered by bangalore cable service.

here in GHaziabad dth service have infact improved the cable service due to competition.first their was a regular powercut of cable from 2-5 pm but now it is available 24 hrs .also they r showing sports channel during time( espn at euro2008 and now neo sports. they charge 150 for month and proves economial then dish tv and tata

I would go with quality more than quantity. DTH quality is better. May be technically you may say that one can get similar quality in Digital Cable, but it all depends on your service provider. With DTH you are ensured certain minimum quality. May be certain channels are not available in DTH, but certain other channels are available. Like I saw someone writing here that Malayalam channels are not available in the area of his residence, whereas they are available on DTH. DTH is still in its infancy and needs some more time to grow. One can even go for the cable if strict quality norms are enforced like in the US where DTH & Cable co-exist. Here in India you are at the mercy of the cable wallah. So DTH is the preferred route!
