downloading something in back problem

hi this is sherif.........my internet is downlaoding something in back which is invisible........if i downlaod the new things then its not getting downloaded...my modems lights blinking fast ......help me out....
 
run a spyware scan.keep your windows updated.at times anti-virus software may be updating.you can find which unwanted programs are running using the task-manager or if you use networx netmeter select netstat

Use a firewall and stop unnecessary connection. Zone Alarm is one of the best and it has a free version. Use Bitmeter, it has a graphical interface which shows if there is any download taking place in the background. It will show the reading if something is downloading without your permission. Please note : Before installing Bitmeter, it will ask permission for installing .Net framework which should be allowed.

Disable all automatic updates. You can manually update them when you find time.
