Hi everyone,I tried net4domains but the payment gateway they are using for credit-card paymentsdid not accept my payment. I tried twice and then called up the CC which asked me to courier the cheque. Can you guys suggest a good domain name provider with office in Bangalore too and who accepts proper online payments?Regards

i had suggest you go ahead with GoDaddy.com they are now the largest seller of domain names on the internet having overtaken Network Solutions. They are the best I have seen till now. Indian companies are very unprofessional and Net4India happens to be the worst. No they do not have any offices in india but you would not require to visit them coz their online system actually works. 😉

My Experiences with Net4India:

Each of these cases are true!

Somewhat related to this thread - What happens once you get a domain name? What steps do you have to take to get to the final product?

your webhost gives you values for nameservers. you put those values in the backend of the domain providers.

heh... Sushubh.. english, please!

What I want to know is basically what procedure do you have to follow to get your website "on air" so to speak, apart from making the website... when you get a domain (let's say hypothetically www.vebmetal.com) do you have to sign up with someone else to host the actual data of the website, or does that all come under the domain name thing? So, for example, if I bought www.vebmetal.com from godaddy.com would they offer me different packages in terms of the amount of data I want to put up and the amount of maximum data transfer I expect in a month, or do I go to someone else about that. (I, of course, don't plan on buying my own server or anything like that).

whoever u buy ur domain from, they give the option of hosting the server with them as well...so if u'd like to look into that thing...

in simple terms...you buy a domain and you buy webspace.domain seller gives you a place where you can put in the values of nameservers given to you by your webhost. that links the domain name to the webspace you buy! that is it 🙂of course domain sellers offer you webspace. net4india charges way too much and GoDaddy's control panel for webspace is confusing 😛what i suggest, buy a domain from godaddy.com buy space from asmallorange.com and enjoy. 🙂

I have few Domain name registered through an Indian based

Code:
http://nettigritty.com
and their service has been prompt and good..and you have few different option for payments including ICICI wire transfer and draft, but yeah if you want a hosting package with Domain go for some US based cos indians rip you off by givin you meagre at the price of plenty. I have a 5gb package for just 2500 rs annual charge so hosting preference shudnt be Indian.

www.godaddy.com is the one

www.namecheap.com is also good

and if you want to buy domains at lower price go to www.netfirms.com providing as low as $ 4.95/yr

i have registered thru rediff.com for my .in domain and iits pretty gud... so if u wanna go for .in rediff is pretty gud... their mail hosting is one of the better ones IMO...
