Hello EverybodyMy ADSL instability problem still not resolved yet.Our area's BSNL JTO claims BSNL exchange is not within 2kms range to our apartment. So, we won't be able to offer speeds beyond 2MBps.But, i am using 4MBps connection. The maximum SNR Margin Downstream i can get at 4MBps is 9+ db.But the SNR Margin Downstream occasionally hovers around 6+ db for some period of time.At that time, the connectivity would be terribly unstable. If my account is reconfigured to lowered speed from BSNL NIB.The SNR Margin Downstream would be around 15 db.And i'll get rock stable connectivity at all point of time.My doubt is, if more people are using BSNL Broadband at any point of time, would my connection's SNR Downstream become low?Is the SNR Margin Downstream's fluctuates because of distance to our BSNL Exchange or something else?

No wudnt affect snr. Yes distance inversely proportional to snr. Get 2mbps, stay jolly.. Sometimes Ppl don't get 4mbps even when they are 1km for exchange.Consider changing ISP

Before this whole routing issue started, you were getting good speeds, right ?

Speed is not the problem right now, the problem is stability.I am talking about the speed our connections gets provisioned from NIB.If the NIB provisions speed above 2MBps, i'll get low SNR Margin Downstream. In couple of occasions daily, the SNR would go as low as 6 db and affects the connection quality badly.

same thing i said.. higher rate = low snr= frequent disconnections
at ur connection 2mbps should do fine...

Not much you can do, move to some other isp for higher speeds.

Both of you didn't understand my problem correctly. I said most of the time I am getting 8+ snr margin downstream. For such a speed if I get 8+ snr margin downstream always , it is perfectly enough for a stable connection. And I said, few times it decreases to 6+ db for some period of time every day. What I wanted to know is the snr db decreases because of high utilization at specific point of time? What are the other reasons for snr margin fluctuations?

You're questions have already been answered here.. Read again!
8 is a ridiculous figure for snr that too for 4mbps, a minimum of 15 required for stable connection.

Like I said earlier to distance from exchange, data rate and attenuation affect snr..
The former and the latter you can do little about, only thing u can do is data rate which I already suggested!

He is talking about snr changing with time. Yes, on poor lines snr can vary depending upon a number of factors. Does anything change when the snr goes down ? Any particular time ?

Appears to be in particular times.
Surely in the morning and afternoon and in some times in the evenings too.
What changes i have to check?

Nothing changes in my home.
