right. that's why there is a need for constant high speeds so that the novelty wears off soon and network congestion becomes a thing of the past. 🙂
the question remains. will the novelty ever wear off?
instead of downloading dvds people would download blu-ray prints. blah. 🙁
nOpe...not all people would do the same! am with beam 😛 and am happy with DVD prints! \m/
currently using a desktop. planning to buy a laptop. will laptop consume less power and help reducing high electric bills. i use my pc for max 8 hours daily.
^ You will probably save Rs 500 / year in electricity , if you have no other use for a laptop & you want to upgrade your desktop then current gen cpus from intel are very energy efficient .
yeah probably. CRTs were probably the biggest culprit on desktops. other components are not that bad. in any case, a laptop is better if power situation in your area is as bad as it is in mine. i would probably have to end up giving up my desktop to retain sanity.
I never measured power consumption by CRTs but my 20" LCD monitor consumes 10 watts while browsing at medium brightness & 22" LED consumes 9 watts at full brightness . a 17"crt would probably consume around 40 watts

whats the avg life of a LCD TFT monitor. have used for around 6 years
i imagine it is generally measured in number of hours. and even that number is just an approximation based on tests. but i would have to say that LCDs have a shorter life than CRTs.

Last month i upgraded from Intel dual core to i5 3rd GEN quad core. Earlier my APC 650va ups used to give 13-15 mins backup but now after the upgrade it gives 25-28 mins backup😀rool ():
FYI....im using the same old 20" LCD, cooler master 500w PSU, Nvidia GTS 450 with the newly upgraded PC.
