Airport Express Line Slashes Fares to Rs 10 from Rs 20

Travelling on the Airport Express Line service of Delhi Metro is set to get cheaper from this Friday as its operator has decided to further slash fares on the route by up to 50 per cent.

"As per the revised fare structure applicable from this Friday, the minimum single journey fare on the corridor will be 10 as against the earlier 20."

"The maximum fare will be 60 as against the earlier 100," the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said today.

Good news. Reliance was charging as much as 180 Rs fare for Dwarka to New Delhi Metro Station.

Since DMRC took back operations from Reliance, fares have continuously came down.

Soon, Pay for Delhi Metro Rides With Paytm Wallet

The next time you take a Metro ride, you might be able to pay for it using your Paytm wallet. A new token currently being tested by the DMRC will allow you to travel, automatically deducting the fare from your Paytm balance, instead of making you repeatedly recharge a Metro card.

We reached out to Paytm to find out more, but while the company did not officially comment on the matter, a representative told us that the DMRC tie up is underway, and will be announced in the near future.

We were told that the specifics of the integration, such as the accounts to be credited, were still to be worked out, and both Paytm and DMRC are in the process of working out the details. We also tried calling the DMRC Chief PR Officer seeking more details from the organisation, but there has been no response till the time of filing this report.

Metro's Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate made wifi-enabled

Commuters travelling in Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate metro stations, two of the most busiest junctions of the network, would now be able to access internet for free with the launch of wi-fi facility today.
The other three stations where similar facilities would be made available soon are Vishwavidyalaya, Central Secretariat and Hauz Khas. All the five stations fall on metro's Yellow Line, that connects Samaypur Badli to Gurgaon.
Until recently, only trains and stations of the 5.1 km long Rapid Metro Network in Gurgaon were wifi enabled.

Even though Chennai Metro has like 6-7 stations now.. This is already implemented....

I guess the idea is to stop couples from using Metro as a hangout spot. I mean it's cheap, it's air conditioned and there is no moral policing around.
