On Tuesday, the Delhi Metro, stepped into the 12th year of its operation.“Delhi Metro, which became operational on December 24, 2002, has grown from a network of six stations and four trains that covered 775 km on Day 1 to 145 stations with 208 trains that cover a distance of almost 70,000 km daily,” Anuj Dayal, the executive director for Corporate Communications at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), said.
And this year, the service recorded its highest ever ridership on August 19 at 26,06,364.
