Dataone Problems...MTU Increase??

hey guys,i have a home 1000 dataone plan. and i recently got a tcp /ip analyzer. and it gave me the following results... and it is also suggesting i increase the MTU...« SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results » Tested on: 04.15.2007 12:04 IP address: 59.92.xxx.xxx TCP options string: 0204059201010402 MSS: 1426 MTU: 1466 TCP Window: 65535 (NOT multiple of MSS) RWIN Scaling: 0 Unscaled RWIN : 65535 Reccomended RWINs: 62744, 125488, 250976, 501952 BDP limit (200ms): 2621kbps (328KBytes/s)BDP limit (500ms): 1049kbps (131KBytes/s) MTU Discovery: ON TTL: 104 Timestamps: OFF SACKs: ON IP ToS: 00000000 (0) so please tell me how to increase the MTU.. and also i face a situation where after 5 mins i get disconnected anf for like another 10 mins it won't connect but then suddenly it will connect and stay online for another 12 hours or so.. so the problem is frequent disconnections. i have complained so many times but all in vain... please tell me wht i can do.. thanks a lot..

changing of MTU size is suggested in windows 95 & windows 98 .
Most probably you would be using windows xp ( or windows 2000 ) .
I am not sure that your problem will be solved by changing MTU .

Anyway , in windows 95/98 , we use windows registry to change
the value of MTU . we set it to 1486 .

for windows 95 / 98 :

1. Start->Run->regedit

2. Goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\netTrans

Click 000n to
find which is associated to TCP/IP settings.

3. Add the following TCP/IP entry into the NetTrans subkey :
Value name= MaxMTU, value data=1486

4. close registry and restart pc

For MTU use TCP optimiser from SpeedGuide.net :: TCP Optimizer / Downloads....disconnections are usually due to line probs..

well ..MTU is nothing to do with disconnection..you can get time outs or stop browsing but not disconnection ..and i would suggest you do not try to edit the MTU..why dont you check it ..by using ping and test it ..before go further ..and if yu are using windows XP pro..than you dont need to do anything..try tp ping with dont fragment packet option with packet size ..start with 1470 and go downward..by adding 24 in the packet size will give you your MTU for the perticular (which site you are pinging ) site.
