i know this is described here already but here's my problem..
i am currently on bsnl 845 plan but still get speeds upto 4mbps..
i am thinking joister-connect which provides 20mbps connection. but it gives RJ-45 as an input whereas my router has an RJ-11 as input.
after reading lots of pages of manoj's post i see hope to change lan4 to wan. (dont want to waste money on new router). isp guy trying to sell me Digisol..
my question are
1) if firmware update process goes bad will i able to set my connection back as rj-11 input, downgrading firmware. does anybody done this in 2018?
2) if i am successful can i get speed OVER 24mbps (if i select the plan as such) because modem mentions as 24mbps max. downstream?

more about modem/router
HW = V1 and FW = IN_1.06

any help will be great ty.

In case of a bad firmware flash you might lose the ability to downgrade to original firmware i.e. IN_1.06 until
you hand over the unit to D-Link support.

In the event of a successful flash to the ME version the wan4 port works as the ISP port and the other
3 ports can be connected to either a desktop / laptop or other devices.

The 24mbps max downstream is limited only to the rj-11 i.e. telephone line and not the RJ-45 which would
still work at 100mbps. So to answer your question you will be able to use higher speeds > 24mbps from
your cable ISP in the event of a correct firmware flash.

On the other hand 2750-U units are known to suddenly stop working using this method randomly.
So you might be better off getting a proper RJ-45 router such as TP-Link/D-Link or Digisol.

i get your point..
another question, is rj-45 input-port router is future proof? means in future if i get more speedy net, are those work with rj-45 input as well. like jiofibre, act or any other high speed. or should i need high end router in future as well?

also what to do with this router? will i need this/ try to sell?

any suggestion for new router models??

The RJ-45 Wan Input router is future proof. It works equally well with docsis (hathway etc)
and act / you broadband and jio fiber / bsnl ftth etc. Most of the cable internet companies
and ftth ones have a termination in a RJ-45 cable.

In case you have a lower budget you could go for the dual antenna 2.4 Ghz - 300Mbps
wireless ones. The 4 ethernet ports would however work at 100Mbps.
The issue with such type of routers is coverage and are usually sufficient for a 2bhk
or a 1000 sq ft area.

In case you are able to amp up your router budget you can go in for a router with
Gigabit ethernet ports (1Gbps) and a 5 Ghz antenna which limits interference with
other router signals (common in apartment complexes where many use wifi routers)

You could try to check if any of your friends are able to sell off their old and slightly
used RJ-45 routers if not needed to save money.

There are quite a few suggestions for your pick if you can specify what budget range you
are looking at.

I was able to pick up a used Digisol 300mbps router without the power supply for
free from my computer dealer who had given it up for dead. All it needed was an
alternate power adapter and some tinkering in the settings to get it up and running!

yes. i am also checking used rj-45 routers on olx. and i have a small appt. so big routers is unnecessary at this point.
budget is under 1000-1500 at best.
also what is docsis?

Docsis is an old technology primarily employed by Hathway across Mumbai and other
cities to provide internet over analog cable tv lines. The end user gets an ethernet
termination though.

My suggestions for routers in your budget are as under (with apologies to sushubh for

Your link posted takes me to TL-WR940N model. 450Mbps wireless speed is only
for TL-WR940N V3 while the earlier versions V2 and V1 are 300Mbps.

I believe they are shipping the v3 version. In case it isn't so, you might have to return
the package back to Amazon.

All in all it is a good buy.

I am using U1 firmware so I installed ME 1.11 UAE firmware on India Firmware U1 1.15 and getting a wan input at LAN 4 port
