Hi,
I have one Acer 21.5" LCD Monitor with HDMI, DVI and VGA port on back panel. My concern is to make the LCD Monitor into HD TV through Tata Sky HD Set top Box by connecting External speaker (Creative SBS A235 2.1 Channel).
I need your help for this connection however I tried a connection i.e. set top box HDMI out>>Monitor HDMI In and started receiving video but for audio my connection was unsuccessful. I tried for Audio, STB RCA(Red & white) out>>>RCA (Red 7 White) two Pin In to 3.5mm In Converted Cable>>3.5mm out speaker. But zoo sound is coming out from speaker. Please help for the audio connection if I am wrong somewhere kindly correct me.
Need Help!!
Thanks,
Mayank

you need something like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BIQER0E to get audio on your external speakers.

Thank Vidyut for your suggestion, but this product is having HDMI in & out, RCA L&R in and of course SPDIF ports. Might you miss one that i don't have issue with video as my monitor is having HDMI IN port by which I can connect with HD DTH Box and it is working too, I want audio connection i have this type of speaker http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/236x/54/dc/00/54dc000c1bf2f12a06468ca92ee561de.jpg which is having 3.5 mm Pin out and DTH Box is having http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/171/tv113.jpg this kind of audio Pin out.
Kindly suggest the connection to it.
Thanks,
Mayank

HDMI passes the audio and video together, so IMO, the only audio port that will be active in STB will be optical. You can try the following:
1. Create a Toslink connection. Or use a Toslink to 3.55mm convertor. If Monitor has optical (Toslink), connect STB optical out to Monitor optical in. Otherwise try Toslink from STB to 3.5mm jack using optical to 3.5mm cable
2. Connect monitor audio out to speaker audio in and Mute monitor speaker.

Thanks for replying Shr but i already mention that my monitor is having only three ports(VGA, DVI and HDMI), none of any audio IN or OUT posrt is available however if i consider your suggestion about making connection from STB to speaker directly by some converter, can you please tell me how because you are supoosing to convert a digital output analog i.e. S/pdif to 3.5mm. Also this kind of converter is not available in market.
But after my research i got something which is technically same but practically i am bit not confirm whether it will work or not. That is connection with this adapter http://www.naaptol.com/cables-connectors/aeoss-a002-hdmi-to-vga-converter-with-3-5mm-audio-for-hdtv-monitor-projector-white/p/12376636.html
If any one has idea please give me his valuable feedback.
Thanks
Mayank

if you want seperate audio then you will have to mod your box which will void the warranty.

but he wants sound when connected to hdmi port on his lcd so all the cables are useless without a hdmi audio/video splitter unless he mods his settop box to get audio signal seperately.
With 2.1 speakers RCA audio cable is sufficient.

you need this :-

it will work for you,it is very simple

2 RCA Male (red and white) will be connected to STB audio out
other end of Female will be connected with your speakers
My Dear Friend,
FYKI when HDMI cable is attached to set top box it's all component port will not work this is the way STB works, only S/PDIF (Coaxial Port for High End Audio) works. Thanks for your concern and I’d like to say that I implemented all the options already.
However I found the solutions which will definitely the cheaper way to watch TV in HD mode with your own HD STB (Except Videocon D2H HD STB)
1.) Use this Converter http://www.ebay.in/itm/HDMI-to-VGA-Converter-Adapter-Cable-with-Audio-Plug-n-Play-/261468401122?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item3ce0bb2de2&_uhb=1. Quality will little reduced but believe me output will be around 1080 if your STB is having HD Channels allowed.
2.) Connect your HD Monitor with HDMI cable directly without any converter and use the S/PDIF/Coaxial output of your STB (reason I already told you above), and connect with a connector readily and cheaply available in the market.

Are you telling if connected via HdMi cable audio is not coming from RCA audio cables? Your STB settings on Audio needs to change for sound to come in 2.1 speakers. Currently I am using 2.1 speakers. Hdmi for video and RCA for audio to my Philips 2.1 speakers. If you can still connect RCA cable tune in to any HD channel and revert if you get sound only in HD channels and no sound in SD channels.
