Connecting with laptop

Now this STB has an HDMI port .. as do my laptop ..So can I connect this STB directly to my lappy? and use windows media center to configure it..Logically I shouldn't be able to connect without a tv tuner card .. But nothing wrong in asking so wht I understand is tht I can't connect it directly and will need a TV tuner card with HDMI option .. is tht right?

i might be very wrong here. but i think both HDMI ports are for video output.

Yes , you can use the laptop for Video OUT only .

yep as far as i know, HDMI from laptop is for output not for input. not 100% sure though.

unless of course the computer is the imac which is designed to use the display as an input source. i have heard people buying imacs purely for their display which is connected to a PC because it turns out to be a cheaper deal compared to having a mac in the house with a LCD display.

thx for the reply guys .. Yeah it seems lappy has HDMI out only .. I have this one Sony VGN-FW455J specs and in specs it says HDMI out ..
So can anyone recommend any good tv tuner card which can be used for this HD STB..
