i have seen similar posts and always though that those ppl were somehow connected to other's network thryu wifi or something without knowing it.

but this happened to me yesterday early morning...

theese are the control pages of a Huawei modem and another one which i could not identify, mine is a humble ut-304r modem.

the point to be noted is that when i got connected to these modems, it also affected my internet speed (dropped down to 256kbps)
now ofcourse i do not like to surf at lower speeds so i even tried restarting my modem.. but i was still unable to open my own modem page,
after sometime it connected to a third person's modem(the huawei one). 30 mins later it fixed itself , and i have not been able to do it again

the phone number was ofcourse not mine(in screenie no6) and i did call on it to gain insight into why this was happening, but the person did not pick up (maybe cuz it was 5 o clock in the morning?)

but i hereby confirm that people who reported similar things happening to them are not freaks(this was the real purpose for this post)

it is very much possible to access other's user account provided he is online at the time when u try to acess his account.Loophole is default password and username is admin.

but someone needs to explain to me why when i enter a local ip in the browser (ie-192.168.1.1)i get connected to someone else's router which is not on my local network??

you are on wi-fi.............
It will pick up the strongest signal(or any signal) that it ""thinks"" is coming from 192.168.1.1

Probably someone in ur building also has a MTNL wifi modem and he still has the default admin/admin userID+password connection

my computer is not wifi enabled, my modem is a wired one.. how do you think i got connected to someone else's wifi??

so you mean to say you are not wi-fi enabled....still when you go to 192.168.1.1 you pick up a wireless modem 😱😱😱.....

there are no wifi enabled devices in my entire house,
is one of these modems for wifi?😕

@banda what is the version of Firefox you are using ?

2.0.0.11
what is the screenshot for?

I also use FF 2.0.0.11 but the top of the window ( FF page) in your screen shots appear different.
Any changes to be made in Tools/options./registry entries.

During this, are you getting an "IP address conflict" bubble in the bottom right near taskbar?

My problems stopped when I changed my PC IP from 192.168.1.3(default, may be 6 for you) to a higher value like 99-100. Try if that helps. Now the problem hasn't resurfaced, I login only into my router. 😀
