I am using internet for years, but ever since I have joined this forum, I have come to know we can actually tweak modem settings for optimal performance. I have a Beetel 220BXI and BSNL 750 UL plan with around 512 kbps speed. So if someone really good at this stuff can guide me, I will really be thankful. I am from Punjab and live under 2kms away from main telephone exchange.

I am using UL 750. On good servers, I get 60 -70 KBps. On torrents around 55 KBps. How much is speed are you getting ?

I get around 60 kbps. Sometimes it starts at like 70-80kbps using IDM, then drops to 60. I dont use torrents.I am using UL 750. On good servers, I get 60 -70 kbps. On torrents around 55 KBps. How much is speed are you getting ?

60 + KBps is a good speed for this plan. I don't think there is any method to get more.

I am not looking for more speed. I am looking for better performance. I am not satisfied with voice chat in Yahoo.

ok, always select off peak hour for chatting. I think Gtalk has better quality. I used to talk for hours with my contacts abroad using gtalk. There will be a bit of buffering still we can say it is reliable. Or may be Skype.
