Community FM Radio

Hi,I am from Mumbai, Malad and I want to strat a local community FM radio.can someone give me info on the hardware, license, till what distance can i transmit ....any websites were i can get more info on the same..Thanks in advance

umm i dont even think its legal in india...

You need to:1. Spend one year in learning readio tech [To learn which power levels, freq, locations are ok which ones are not]2. Clear one exam (Next one is in Sept I guess)3. Have your equippment certifiedCommunity Radio (a.k.a Ham) was the only service that was working in Mumbai floods on 26th July when GSM/CDMA broke down.

community radio is different from Ham radio

in India, at present, community radio licenses can be given to
educational institutions and social service organizations only .
individual persons cannot get a license to operate it - sad ...

Yes it is different in terms of usage and well as technology.But you need to to write the same exam for both.
