Censorship in TV Channels

You would find it hard to believe but they do have very good programming.

I am wondering in coming years ,whether these utlra conservative`s will also dictate what position we need to have s**

Yeah. Was just going through its schedule. Seems they do have content to show. I used to think its all about the lok sabha proceedings.

Possible. Who knows, a bill is passed several years from now saying that doggie style is banned because it hurts dog's sentiments.

I know two journalists that were part of the team assigned the job of fixing Lok Sabha TV and making it more than just a streaming tool of LS proceedings. It was headed by a very respectable media personality who was given a very tight budget and the end result was very good based on what I saw. They have sane debates and lots of other programming. Very similar to regular news channels without the bullshit 🙂

According to her wiki page:
In 2005-6 the govt of India had decided to teach sex education in all schools, in some cases starting from 3rd std to 12t std. When Ms Naittahni went through the syllabus she was shocked to see it. The content was more pornographic than educative and was completely unsuitable for school education. With guidance and support from Jain Muni Shri Ratnasundersurishwar Maharaj she filed a petition in the Rajyasabha petition committee. Besides the public opinion was also considered by the committee on the same. After much deliberations it was unanimously decided by the committee to with draw the objectionable syllabus.
Didn't heard about this
It seems she herself has posted her wiki page, as the article is an orphan & also has her FB link in the main content. wikipedia should not allow such orphan articles w/o any links to prove it

Removed the fb link. Its sheer vandalism. Don't know how it skipped past the moderators.

HBO once (8-9 years back) showed a movie 'Presumed innocent', and during one scene, they showed butt of Greta Scacchi in one scene. I saw a lot of films (on mgm,hbo etc), which showed butts of actresses. They never showed t#ts. Then channels would blur the scene, but wouldn't cut the scene. Now they cut the scene completely. If something important part of the film involves some sensuality, they cut it and it is impossible to understand the film. They even censor Hindi films. Once I was watching Film Vaastav, they cut the entire scene where Sanjay dutt kills fracture bandya's brother, we see Sanjay Dutt picking up the pan and then dead bodies, stupidity. There was a channel Cine World aka CW, that showed complete nudity, the then I&B minister priyaranjan dasmunshi banned the channel. CW would blur nudity during daytime, but they would show complete nudity after 9 P.M.
Everything is censored in India, even fashion tv doesn't show anything, now. I watch only sports channels, and news on tv. I prefer to stay away from cable tv otherwise. A year back on HBO they were showing American pie 6 beta house, that movie was completed in just an hour.

most people ranting about some censorship must be single and without kids , i said most because i know some of them are married .
once you have a family and kids your perspective changes

Should we also ban all accidents ? so that children are not exposed to gore ?
Certain things in life happen , like how we first saw a porn or porn magazine , it happens and it will happen. Be it my kid or anyone's kid. Its parents job to see to that , kids have a good sex education at the beginning
An innocent kid inquiring about his / her birth.... , we can delay the true fact for some years , beyond that ? It might be an embarrassing event , but it has to happen somewhere in one`s timeline.

I think more we censor and make it out of reach from the young minds ,the more we are going to spoil with the craving we are artificially inducing in them.
Want to censor WWF ? you think kids will take this for granted and not watch wwf ? I dont think so .. the moment they go to their friends house or anyone's , they will sit and watch and become even more addicted than what they could have got in their home and even they could have got tired of that crap and moved to some cartoon shows.
We can argue for the greater good of children we can as adults sacrifice some. But with current technology (DTH/STB) we have even more granular control over our media than ever before. Why should a young couple be denied from watching a adult movie , a romantic movie ? Why should even a older couple denied an uncensored movie to watch and enjoy at those age ? Its parents duty to have wider control of what their kids want o watch and what not. This is just shifting the blame and responsibility on others ,when its their duty to begin with. No one is stopping them from child locking certain channel or no one is stopping them from installing a web-nanny software / any monitoring/censoring software on their PC to protect their children.
Look at UK and what the reason they are stating to enforce censorship ..
In today world , two words are used to accomplish any kind of censorship or restriction
1.) Kids
2.) Terrorist

If a person has Kids and feels some of the content in any particular channel is not kid friendly then they shouldn't watch that channel or better yet they shouldn't subscribe that channel, afterall with DTH we can all pick and choose the channels we want. Instead of that imposing censorship and ruining it for the rest of us is not fair.

i understand, internet sometimes is devastating to one's psychology , i however do not have eradication solutions to it
in the name of parents duty alone you want all the dirty stuff to be published in all kinds of media and you believe the society will remain sane?
i think its time for 24 hrs Indian porn channels and all kind of magazines playboy and xxx to be on the news stands and the vendor should ask for id before anyone can buy it , you will love it

what if the sensual/sexual content is on most channels , in some form or another , i think people should stop watching tv altogether

You have kids these days dancing to item songs that play on tv all the time and on every channel, we all know how these songs videos are, you watch a dance reality show, u see kids 7-8 years dancing on such songs with the expressions and the costumes and everything, no one seems to have issues with that. You have small kids playing violent games all the time on their PS or mobiles. Parents don't seem to have issues with that, I dont understand the logic of censorship in India its different for the Ministry and different for parents.

The thing is most of the English movie channels in India show PG movies, they don't show r rated films. Ishaan, they won't be able to show 'Mulholland Drive', as well. I don't give a crap about nudity. At least they could show R rated films with foul language uncensored after 10 PM or something. If the scene is cut altogether, it kills the joy of watching a film. I say if you find a film somewhat objectionable, dont show it at all. Show disney movies instead. But dont post morten a movie. To top it even indian dvd making companies censor the film, makes it suitable for Indian viewing. Everyone uses foul language, kids start abusing from 6th or 7th grade, they learn it from friends and seniors at school. We are one hypocrite nation, will blame TV for that.
