hi,

no, smartAx mt882 doesnot support forwarding range of ports.

the modem's firewall is turned on. it doesn't make any difference if i either turn it on or off. i can host and play any game with the firewall turned on.

BTW i'm using Windows default firewall. i hate installing security applications (all of them are resource hungry). [i have not installed any anti-virus application or any adware removing application]. It's been nearly 8 months and my pc is not infected by any virus or adwares. As long as i stay away from crack, keygenerator and other illegal sites, i think my pc will be fine 😉 .

P.S: for testing ports i use \"Azureus NAT/Firewall test\" [tools-----> NAT/Firewall test].

One more thing, my friends really enjoyed playing AOC online. Serious Sam second encounter [co-operative missions] was also great. we are going to try NFS 6 today 🙂. [some of my friends only have the 845 onboard graphics card, so we are sticking with only directx 8 games 😉]

[ i have been searching for this from november 2005. three months ago i almost gave up on this.I found this site accidently by doing a google search for \"dataone maximum upload speed\"]. After reading some previous threads on this forum, i knew that this is the place.

Range of port can be forwarded in MT882 AND ALSO DMZ!!!!

There are two steps in using your modem in bridge mode:

1. Setting up XP to dial your service provider
-------------------------------------------------
Assuming you are using Windows XP follow the steps as shown here(those given in \"Configuring Windows XP for PPPoE Dynamic DSL\" section):
http://public.pacbell.net/dsl/winxp/index.html#dynamic

but note that:
- in step 8, you can put any name, e.g. BSNL DataOne
- in step 9, user you BSNL username and password.

If you are not using XP, ask someone how accomplish the above for your version of Windows.

2. Configure your MT882 modem to be used in bridge mode
---------------------------------------------------------------
To do so, open your modem configuration page in a web browser. I think you have to go to the URL http://192.168.1.1 (with your modem ON and connected to your computer). If you cannot go to this web page, list the output of \"ipconfig\" command in the command prompt.

Once in the configuration page, go to the WAN Settings, and in the ConnectionType, choose \"Pure Bridge\". Once this is done, go to Tools->System Setting and restart the modem by clicking on \"save and restart\".

After the previous two steps, you should be able to connect by clicking on the newly created BSNL connection (Step 1). You can create a short cut to this connection for all users for convenience.

Good Luck.

Hi..!

When i have tried Your Point no.1, i got an error message after the
dialer tried for a connection. The error message is "connecting
through wan miniport(pppoe)" and "error connecting to ....."

When i have tried your point no.2, in the WAN settings, i cant
see "Pure Bridge" option but "RFC2684Bridged". When i chose
this option, i was not connected to the internet.

Please help.

when you select bridge ( pt 2) when you try to dial , what error do you face?

====================================
Hi..!

Thanks for responding me.

With Point #2: After I have checked the option button "RFC2684Bridged" and saved and restarted the mt882... I didn't get any errors but the modem went Idle... i mean the mode's Link LED is green... that means no connection established... If you could solve this problem then i will be happy in playing AOE online.

Thanks
salamkool
