I was previously on the 749 plan and I added my dad's prepaid number. The process was smooth and straightforward. Now I wanted to add a couple more connections, so I upgraded my plan to 999. Once I did, I added the two prepaid numbers and it was taking forever to get activated. I talked to Airtel's customer care execs, and they are saying it's not possible to add a prepaid number to a postpaid plan, not without first visiting an Airtel store to convert the said number to postpaid. This frankly makes no sense to me, and the lack of information under plan details is just irksome.

That is correct. But the conversion happens automatically once they are added into the family plan.
That’s what happened when I did add prepaid number into the 999 plan in Dec 2019.
It’s a very smooth process once you visit the Airtel store near you.
