I used to schedule my pc to wake up at 2:15 & keep my modem on n sleep off. My pc would get up at 2:15 n download stuffs n morning after restarting my modem @ 8 i check my usage n i see :iomg: my usage page shows the record of me downloading 250mb of data from 1:40 to 8 am. wth! so i googled n then realized that im supposed to restart the modem at 2am to enjoy! the free download hours. But who's gonna get up everyday at 2 n restart the modem??? 😕
so i came up with a solution! here we go :iplay:
1) Since we know that standard modem uses 5V 1A we can connect it to Pc's SMPS power output (which u connect to hard disk or cd/dvd rom) Be careful while wiring cos the SMPS gotta different power output ratings i.e +12 G G +5. You are supposed to connect your modem power wire (-&+ ) to G +5 (G stands for ground or - in case u dunno)
2) Alright done with wiring yeah? :inodding: ok now time to schedule your pc. (im not gonna tell how! Just google it) in scheduler set the wake-up time to 2:10 am( to be on safer side ). Download vista shut down gadget from here - Download AutoShutdown Vista Gadget 1.4.1 - An automatic shutdown utility on your desktop or sidebar - Softpedia set the shutdown timer to say 7:50am
3) Now start the download manager, torrent bla bla bla & put your pc on sleep. If everything went right then your pc+modem should wake-up at 2:15 am download the stuffs you kept for download & shut down at 7:50 am.
