BSNL has already brought about 600 towns under broadband coverage. it plans to add another 900 towns by the end of the year. The rollout in the remaining areas will be done using new age wireless technologies like Wi-Max. This exercise is expected to be completed within calendar year 2007.[/b]

wi-fi has as smaller range. and it does not have the bandwidth carrying capabilities of wimax.but most laptops in the market today support wi-fi out of the box. support for wimax? minimal. cards for wimax are jsut coming out in the market. and i think the standard is still not set for wimax...

Wi-Max has a coverrage of 8000 km, making it ideal for india , and dont think so cards for wi-max inst a big thing , once companies known that there is a market for such products , products will role out
