Yup, This is a joke. They can't provide 8mbps on DSL. They will need vdsl for it. And for vdsl connection, your home should be under 500m from the exchange point.

BSNL will upgrade Pre-FUP download speed for all its broadband plans to 8 Mbps & above from 1st November, 2017.

8-10 Mbps speeds can be achieved for up to 2.5 kms from DSLAM provided the line is noise-free !

I'm about 1 km from exchange and I get 21 Mbps easily on ADSL 2+ !

For 8-10 Mbps, users up to 2.5 kms are good to go, irrespective of the modulation (ADSL & above). No need for VDSL for 10 Mbps.

i couldn't care less for pre fup speeds,its a sham if they dont upgrade the post fup to 4 mbps at the very least,2 mbps is too low.
