Hi, I have Dataone Home Combo 500 Plan. As soon as I switch on the router and once the connection gets established, router simply starts downloading (without even opening any browser). I have disabled all software and windows updates and still the problem persists. Scanned my PC for Virus/Trojen/Malware/Spyware and nothing was found. Yet the router keeps on downloading. Any help to fix this is highly appreciated. ThanksPazzion

could u give a bit more detailed info>what is the router model>what do u mean by downloading (or r u talking abt lights blinking continuously on the router)>do you have wireless in the router (if yes do you use wireless)(if no does the wireless light keeps blinking too)>does the router have bittorrent protocol built in>do you have any firewall/Av installed / ur os config>can u provide a hijackthis log here
Yes, I do have NIS as well as Microsoft Security Essentials Installed with latest updates and scanned, yet no luck of finding the culprit.

What and how do you know it is downloading?
Hi,
I have Dataone Home Combo 500 Plan. As soon as I switch on the router and once the connection gets established, router simply starts downloading (without even opening any browser). I have disabled all software and windows updates and still the problem persists. Scanned my PC for Virus/Trojen/Malware/Spyware and nothing was found. Yet the router keeps on downloading. Any help to fix this is highly appreciated.

Use a good firewall. One from Comodo or Zone alarm will be fine. I am using free firewall from Comodo. You can check which application is trying to access net and block it.
Thankyou all for your ideas, for it fixed. Installed comodo firewall and analysed the traffic, it was svchost.exe which occupied most of the bandwith and keeps on restarting if I terminate it. The underlying culprit in svchost is "BITS - Background Intelligent Transfer Service" which Windows uses. Even if i disable or set the service to manual, it starts after some time. So finally created a service, which starts when windows starts and keeps checking if BITS starts and if so, will stop the BITS service. ThanksPazzion
