BSNL Broadband: Disconnection

Hi guys

Frm the past week i'm experiencing frequent disconnection problems with my BSNL BB... The telephone line was also very noisy... so i called up the bsnl CC and there linesman came and checked and said that he has corrected the fault..

Now the telephone line is clear but still i'm having this disconnection problem.... (the dsl line goes off again and again)..
Since the line is clear is suspect a faulty modem

I'm posting the screeny of my dsl status

NO hope. Your Line is bad. Attn 49 db and snr 6.
Water may have entered your landline connection, or at junction box.
Junction box ===rj11 LINE==adsl splitter===PHONE PORT ===Rj11 all phones.
.......................................................................Modem Port===>>Rj11 to modem.

thanks for your quick repllyyes the connection is like thiswall socket => splitter => modem...............................=> telephonenow whn i checked my status page againthe snr was up to around 30 and atten around 23... :wall: :wall:
 
Clearly BSNL have you on the wrong Line type... since attenuation is in 40s your distance from the CO is around 3Kms which clearly means you have repeators and load coils in your line..... you have to be switched to Interleaved format and BSNL should use ADSL2+ compatible equipment as G.dmt is only suitable for people under 2.5 kms from CO. Either take a lower plan from BSNL or talk to them about changing you line type to interleaved and placing you under ADSL2+.:redface:
 
Hey, just for some info... I am about 3.5 Km from exchange and Line Attenuation (downstream) is 32db. 😀No link/line drops what so ever.

SNR Margin
In general, a higher signal to noise ratio will result in less errors.
6bB. or below = Bad and will experience no line synchronisation or intermittent synchronisation problems.
7dB-10dB. = Fair but does not leave much room for variances in conditions.
11dB-20dB. = Good with little or no synchronisation problems
20dB-28dB. = Excellent
29dB. or above = Outstanding
Attenuation Rates
In gerneral, attenuation is the loss of signal over distance. Unfortunately, dB loss is not just dependent on distance. It also depends on cable type and gauge (which can differ over the length of the cable), the number and location other connection points on the cable.
20bB. and below = Outstanding
20dB-30dB. = Excellent
30dB-40dB. = Very Good
40dB-50dB. = Good
50dB-60dB. = Poor and may experience connectivity issues
60dB. and above = Bad and will experience connectivity issues
Distance
And for distance, the equation suggests that downstream attenuation divided by 13.81 will roughly equal KM from the exchange/CO. This distance is in wirelength and not distance by road or any other path...

In your case...attn = 32db
distance = 32/13.81= 2.32 Kms

now whn i checked my status page again
the snr was up to around 30 and atten around 23...
Telephone connection is not clear.ALWAYS connect after ADSL PHONE PORT.
For any parallel phones directly from BSNL phone junction use extra ADSL SPLITTER.
Confirm connection is stable.

the guys in bsnl are useless... couple of days ago their linesman came and checked it and said everything is fine.... :madness: Anyways i can only expect any action from their side only after diwali.... 😡
