first you should check whether you are able to ping the modem.
For this go to command prompt & type without inverted commas : "ping -t 192.168.1.1"
If there is a reply then your modem is connected to your PC with LAN, otherwise check LAN.
May be the fault is at the LAN interface of your modem or the LAN card of your PC.

Yes it will work with BSNL Broadband, being a Wifi enabled ADSL modem. If you want to use it in Single user mode, no need to configure it.Just plug it to the LAN port of your PC (make sure LAN drivers of your PC is installed properly and LAN is enabled). Then create a set up in your PC using the broadband username & password.
If you want to use the modem in multiuser mode, you need to enter the broadband user id & password in the modem. For this you need to login to the modem, go to configuration , delete all PVC settings & create a new PVC with name = pppoe_0_35, set VPI=0,VCI=35,select setting to "PPPoE" then enter username & password, save & reboot.
This is the generic way.For further help , contact your modem vendor.

Thank you. I am new to all these technology. I did give a try. I did not find any option to delete PVC settings or create it. Can you give me more details.

Well .. both 'Add' & 'Delete ' option will be there.Just consult your hardware vendor. The interface might be confusing sometimes.

Hi every body, I applied for plan change on 25.10.2010 and submitted the application on the same day at BSNL office Chittoor; the concerned staff told me my plan will be changed from 01.11.2010. But without any prior notice on 28.10.2010 my HOME 500UL (RURAL) was changed to HOME 500 Night free (2.00A.M. to 8.00 A.M) as I requested. I downloaded heavily from 6.00 P.M. on 28.10.2010 to 31.10.2010 as usually because I was having unlimited home plan. The download speed was very good up to 240KBPS against 25 to 30KBPS previously. When I checked my bill amount by dialing to 1500 on 29.10.2010 they told me my request to plan change with effect from 7.15 P.M. on 28.10.2010. Do you know how much bill got for that month? Instead of Rs.500/- I got Rs.3,111/-. When I questioned about this to SDOT he simply said the rules have been changed now and they will change the plan request immediately as soon as they receive request fro customers. Most of the official at BSNL don't have technical knowledge about computers and broad band service. I suggest the customers if you want to download more night unlimitted plan is the best. All the other unlimited plans are waste in my opinion. Enjoy yourself and a have good time.

Hi guys, I have a problem, which the BSNL guys have, typically, been unable to solve. I have a BSNL connection with a Type 2 modem(ZTE 531B). This is connected to my Desktop and the net connection is fine. Now I wanted to enable the enable the wireless so that I could use net in my laptops also, inside my home. On asking about this they asked me to change a few settings(Enable wireless, give and said and all that). Even though my laptop was able to recognize the connection it was unable to connect to it citing low security as the reason. I changed the security to WPA-PSK, from shared which is what the BSNL guys said. The laptop then gets connected to the network but shows not internet access. Even the 198.162.1.1 site opens in the wireless network, but the network connection shows no internet access and the web pages don't load.Any suggestion would be appreciated as, I have a feeling i'm just a step away from getting this right and am getting really frustrated!!!

Tried to start a new thread, but isn't approved yet. Hope I get the response here.

Hi folks, need help with the following queries.

1) I basically wanted BB Home Rural Combo ULD 500, but today after I received the phone bill, I realized these incompetents gave BB Home Combo UL 625 (.:Unlimited Home Only:.) instead. This has a security deposit of one month charges, unlike Rural Combo plan. In the phone bill received, they listed this security deposit as 'one time charges' and monthly usage bill separately. I basically wanted this connection for only a month. And I have no intention of continuing it after this month, for at least 4 more months. So I'm wondering if I don't pay these extra monthly usage charges for this month, will it be take from the security deposit/one time charges? Or am I wrong in understanding these both as same? Should I inform them again for the disconnection of the plan after this month?

2) STD call history is given in the phone bill for last month, during which this BB Home Combo UL 625 plan was applicable for 10 days, but wasn't working in the whole village because of some technical issues. Just wondering if they will be printing loads of web usage history too, like the std calls history, while listing monthly usage charges in the next phone bill.
