Mention your modem model . see below
1Check DNS page and enter Opendns given below.
Start/Network/LAN/properties/TCP IP
2check Obtain IP address automatically.
3In DNS enter 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222
( you can enter BSNL DNS as alternate ).
Para Two :
PPP adapter. Same: TCP/IP properties Advanced look under WINS
select check/enable Default for Netbios over IP.
Subnet mask 255.255.255.255 doubtful. How you entered it ? I think end entry is 254.
Default Gateway usually the IP address of modem viz 192.168.1.1 and Ip address will be different . say 192.168.1.11 etc ( depending on the range you have entered in modem/router)

REF: calcuttatelephones.com/dataoneinstall/menu.html Select your modem.
There are two models.

Hi essbebe,

I have done all what you said.. but didnt work. I thought my problem should be with my PC. So I tried reinstalling OS and it worked.
But I am really happy with your fast replies and all. I really appreciate your help..

hello .. im unable to access few sites like bwtorrents / dctorrents, rest all other are working fine. i've tried using the methods mentioned here but cannot get access to sites. i can certainly ping the site & getting response also but the browser keeps on saying .. connecting .. connecting to 123.com / abc.com

I'm having the same problem. Sites like bwt and wikipedia and this site don't open, but when I reboot the router I'll be able to access the above sites, but not others before the reboot and the same vice versa when I reboot again. I've checked if I get the same problem on another computer and another account and it's the same. Something's really screwed with bsnl...

^^I am using opendns. The lookup seems fine, it just says connecting and then "cannot connect to this page."

Hi folks,

My modem is UTStar 300R (Black). How can I set MTU in bridge mode? MTU=1490 works for me well on Router mode. In Router mode I used to set MTU in WAN->ppp-> Add (here I used to specify MTU, along with uid/pwd). But this steps aren't required in bridge mode.

Also, for the last few years my modem was always configured in router mode (as per this doc). But this days router mode don't work at all. Only Bridge mode works...really weird.

Thanks.
