Hi,I have a self purchased UT-300R DSL modem connecting to BSNL dataone. I have been using Dataone for more than 2 years with not so great experience. I have been having problem for close to 3 weeks in connecting onto Dataone. There was no change to the modem setting which was earlier working and it is not working. The escalations to customer care is useless and hence writing to the gurus in this forum. My OS: Windows VistaMy earlier settingsIP Address: 192.168.1.34Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1DNS: 61.1.96.69Alternate DNS: 61.1.96.71On calling BSNL customer care, i had been advised to change the setting to the following. But this also is of no useIP Address: 192.168.1.34Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1DNS: 192.168.1.1Alternate DNS: 218.248.155.161On my Vista Control Panel, I still see the Computer connected to a Connection but no connection to Internet. The modem admin page also says that link is down.Any remedies...Govind Desikan

Welcome to BroadbandForum.
If you had taken the trouble to see the threads
at least for this week, you would have got the idea.
Anyway see
https://broadband.forum/bsnl-dataone-broadband/18979-bsnl-broadband-my-web-pages-loads-up-way-slow/

report progress.

In modem 198.162.1.1/main.html Advanced Diagnostics.
In computer TCP/IP properties select Assign IP/DNS automatically. for trial.

Hi essbebe,

Thanks for the prompt response. I am sending the inputs after trying out various options mentioned in your earlier thread. Please provide additional inputs.

file:///C:/Users/gdesikan/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpg After setting Assign IP/ DNS automatically, the Vista Control Panel shows up as unidentified network and is unable to connect

After setting the following IP Settings in the Computer
IP Address: 192.168.1.34
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS: 208.67.220.220
Alternate DNS: 208.67.222.222

The ping from Command window to 192.168.1.1 times out
The admin page (after logging in as admin/ utstar on my browser URL of http://192.168.1.1) shows following data

1.For always on mode.
Select above and edit for PPPoE/PPPoa
you will get another page
enter ID given by Bsnl xxxxx at dataone.in
Password.
Save and reboot
Wait at least for two minutes. Now try and report
2.You are now on Dialup mode ( bridged)
Everytime you want to connect after switching on the computer
you have to use the dialer . Only ID and password required. Try this first.
I have XP Pro Sp2 and cannot exactly reproduce Vista menu.
After you solve your problem please read the threads at least the first twenty.
3. In the modem there will be apage diagnostics. report which is failing.
