Bridge settings on Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon

I installed the Ubuntu Linux 7.10, the latest Gutsy Gibbon edition. I have messed around a bit but cant seem to get through how to connect to the internet. My router is configured for bridge mode.In XP, we make another connection with username and password through PPPoE to connect through a broadband connection. Can anyone help with the settings in Linux for the same?

^^^ Since you are new to ubuntu instead of makin the bridge mode connection, configure your router to make the connection by configuring the router at 192.168.1.1.....Even i have ubuntu but since the router makes the pppoE connection i didnot have to mess around with things much....directly log on to the net....
