Indian language internet users in India (234 million) have already overtaken the number of English users (175 million). Indian language users, spurred on by drops in smartphone and data prices, are expected to account for nearly 75% of India’s internet user base by 2021.

This means 9 out of every 10 new internet users in India over the next 5 years are likely to be Indian language users.

In a country with the second-largest number of internet users in the world, these figures imply a tectonic shift for businesses. As the economy wakes up to this reality, the conversation has shifted from why businesses must enter the non-English user market to how.

BOL is a full-day event being hosted by Quint Hindi and Google India with the goal of bringing together the brightest minds in business, media and publishing to talk about the explosion of Indian languages online. From panel discussions to fireside chats, it’s going to be a day filled with insightful conversations about forces shaping India’s internet and economy by the people helping bring about this change.
