Okay, I missed this coversation after posting about the block 'cause I switched to the Bloggers Collective group. Though only media pressure got the govt to restore access, it hasn't been properly implemented - in some cases, people are able to access one or two of Blogspot/Geocities/Typepad, but not all. Some ISP's haven't allowed access to any, still. Some people have filed RTI petitions and a PIL is in the works...so what does the government plan to do?
1) Amend the RTI act to make it less potent. (details - http://mixedbag.blogspot.com/2006/07/right...der-threat.html )
2) Propose an amendment to the IT Act to create a code of ethics for bloggers. This could be expanded to cover forums, since politicians would want superceding powers (details- http://www.expressindia.com/fullstory.php?newsid=71392 )
