While browsing the 220bx config pages, I saw this button called "Adsl ber test" in ADSL statistics page. Here's my result:

:blink: Is that much error normal? Here's my dB rates too:

I have two phones(parallel connection) and I've read somewhere that it may cause high noise. That so?
I don't have any active problems because of this but I suspect this might've been the cause of a few disconnects in the mornin about two days ago (anyone in chennai?).

Don't read too much into that. Even i tried it out a while back and got back an astronomical number like that. SNR and Attenuation are the two things that matter and ur figures for both are normal (we have the exact same downstream snr btw 😛) Thought i'd post a lil snippet abt it anyway.

Bit Error Rate Test
A test that reflects the ratio of errored bits to the total number transmitted. Usually shown in exponential form (10^-6) to indicate that one out of a certain number of bits are in error.[/b]

Here's a wiki article on BER:
On good connections the BER should be below 10^-9. The test time for a 95% confidence level at several speed links is shown here:

* 40 Gbit/s (STM-256 or OC-768): 1 s
* 10 Gbit/s (STM-64 or OC-192): 3 s
* 2.5 Gbit/s (STM-16 or OC-48): 12 s
* 622 Mbit/s (STM-4c or OC-12: 48 s
* 155 Mbit/s (STM-1 or OC-3): 3.2 min
* 64 Mbit/s (STM-1 or stnd) : 6.4 min
[/b]

Is 3.74xe-01 greater than or lesser than 10^-9?
Also, I have to wonder how long it will take to test my 256kbps link ;p
