Noticed at an ICICI ATM today - "This is a non-metro ATM" on the screen. Wondering what is it implying.

Currently these limit to transactions is applied only on atms located in metros. rest of the atms have unlimited withdrawls.

So if your clearly says "This is an non metro atm.." then it means the usual limit of 5 transactions is not applicable on that atm.

The Reserve Bank on Friday said the number of free transactions in a month at non-home ATMs would remain three in six identified metros but customers of these centres can use their card without cost two more times in non-metro centres.

We know this. But "non-metro centres" and "ATM in a metro centre with non-metro ATM written" are different things.

so they are going to force banks to charge for a service they provide for free? yes bank and a few other private banks. i am guessing other banks might provide it on accounts with more facilities? cool. they would also force charges on cash withdrawal using cheques? idiocy.
