Isn't tasker supposed to do just that and more?

I was thinking the same. Tasker doesn't use those new APIs though.

Tasker will be informed that you are in a car on the basis of connecting to the car Bluetooth. This however uses the new APIs which do not require Bluetooth. But I think tasker is more comprehensive.
