Hi,My neighbour is an old lady whose Indian passport has expired and needs to renew it and get another one. She can't go and wait in the long queue at the passport office as she is too weak. Do you know any authorised passport agents in Juhu, Mumbai? The govt of India's passport site has a log in page for passport agents, but there is no official list of authorised passport agents in the country (Mumbai etc.) Thanks

Hi,I have a few queries if someone can help me please thanks. My passport has expired after 10 years and needs to be renewed or as per the passport web site of Indian govt, it needs to be re-issued. I want to do the tatkaal (costs Rs. 1500+1000) which as per the web site takes only 3 days provided all the documents are in order. Is it true? Has any one got it in only 3 days? What do I need to do? Can I just go there (Mumbai passport office) with all the documents specified on the site plus the passport that has expired without an appointment and then get an appointment? It normally takes 8-9 weeks or so. Once I go there for the tatkaal service, do I have the option to get it delivered by post to my address in Mumbai or else where in India? Or it is possible for me to go there personally and collect it? Thanks please guide me.

Hi Piyush,

Thanks a lot. But I have a few more queries if you can please help me.

1. I want to download and fill an application form directly from the Indian govt passport site, is that ok? Or do I need to go an get a form from the Mumbai passport office iteself?

2. Which form to download and fill? Here are 3 of them.

Forms

3. The site says that the Personal Particulars Form (PP Form, it is only 1 page form with 12 items/questions) is part of the application form 1 (which is a 4 page form with 20 questions/items), is it to be filled as well and submitted to the passport office or is it to be submitted to the police station where I need to go for the police verification once I get my reissued passport in 3 days under the Tatkaal method?

4. I do not understand the question/item no. 15 in the application form no. 1 (the form which is 4 pages long and has 20 questions/item in it). It says "Emigration check not reuired status"? Yes/No.

I am not sure what to say ie yes/no. I have one page in my passport (issued in 2000 and now expired in 2010) which has some text written on it and it looks like this image in the link below.

I am a graduate and well qualified.

Please tell me what to do with item no. 15 ie the above ECNR status?

If I want to apply for ECNR then what to do? Do I need to pay extra for it apart from the Rs. 2500 for the Tatkaal passport?

5. As I understand the police will call me to the nearest police station for verification but that will happen only after I get my passport under Tatkaal, right? Police verification is after issuance of passport in Tatakaal method not before, right? So the police will call me themselves or do I need to go there myself after receiving the passport? I guess the passport office will give my application details to them to do the verification rather than me going to them directly.

Thanks
Please reply ASAP. Thanks

I'll tell you the easy way to get ur passport sooner than the normal. This is what I had done.

First apply ur passport the normal way, I mean fill the forms and submit it at any post office or passport office. Then after 2-3 days go to your area police station and check with them if they have received your application (If possible, Give them some "Dava-Daroo", Hope you understood). Once the police verification is done go to the passport office and apply the application as Tatkal. The advantage here is you wont need to get the police verification done (which takes the most time) or get the below documents (I have given the link). After that it would be easy to get the passport in tatkal.

In normal tatkal, Instead of police verification you would need to get a letter from any IPS/IAS office or an affidavit, Here is the link Annexure C

another advice I would also like to mention is Keep a track of your application on the internet, It would help you to know the status and then do things as mentioned above.

Hope that helps, In case of any more questions you can mail me piyush85(@)gmail(.)com or PM me.

^ he needs to get an expired passport renewed (actually re-issued as per passport.gov.in) for which police verification is not necessary, IMO
