AOL patches Netscape Browser

Oct 29, 2004
AOL released Netscape Browser 8 claiming it to be the most secure web browser around. The claim took a beating when they had to release an updated version within the first 24 hours itself with fixes to the rendering engine to bring it at par with the latest stable Mozilla Firefox release.

However, that release resulted in clashes with the Internet Explorer installed on the same system as it somehow disabled the XML Support in that browser. Microsoft reported this problem with the AOL’s application and had two suggestions for fixing the problem. One was to uninstall the conflicting application and other was to tinker with the system registry.
