Anybody here who got BSNL sim replaced from exchange other than from where sim was issued!

Hello all, has anybody who got his sim exchanged from other city or exchange? Recently one of my friend who got his old sim damaged which was issued from Lucknow. When he tried to get replacement of sim from his home town(both cities are in the same circle i.e. UP East) but to my surprise bsnl guys asked him to visit Lucknow in order to get replacement excuse given was that data of the sim was unavailable to them.
Isn't weird thing? I mean if it were any private operator they would have replaced it easily.

I've got my normal SIM exchanged for micro SIM at nearest CSC. Even though I got the original SIM elsewhere.

Sorry for delayed response. No, the SIM card was purchased way back in 2005.

My sim card was purchased from another city (in 2009) and yesterday they exchanged it.

Don't know about other circle or areas. In Tamilnadu the service of BSNL is improving/improved whole lot better in recent past.

Anyways. Good to hear that your friend's problem has been solved.
