Dear Folks,
I am from Kolkata, in my area, Jio has a total of 9 towers. But none of this very near to my home. Nearest tower within 234 m(approx). However, airtel Vodafone have 6-8 tower, nearest tower of Airtel+ VI is appx 85 m, but this tower now not operational, (airtel local engineer who work now on this site he said, this site upgrade with Ericson equipment and reframing 900mhz).

Due to the worst jio network, now frequent call discount, every time mobile net showing "Your offline".
My jio recharge end on March 10. That's way asking is any possibility to improve jio network after spectrum action.

Jio network operation policy in my area -

1) They disable CA during daytime till night at 11 pm.
2) 850Mhz band now not latched with most of the time( too much fluctuation).
3) 2300 Mhz 20 Mhz and 10 Mhz operational.
4) Sometimes at midnight jio shutdown 2300 MHz only work 1800 + 850 Mhz(one network specialist said, TSP reduce network operational cost)

# Sorry for the too long post.

Why isn't this illegal?

@sudipta chatterjee Wait till April (jio will take about a month or two to implement the spectrum that they purchase during the auction). Am confident that coverage in your area will improve. Currently due the lack of spectrum, jio operates its Towers on low power. This might improve. Things will also improve if they purchase and implement 700Mhz for 4G in your area (they will eventually refarm it for 5G).

Temporarily, you can latch on to 850Mhz manually (Google it how to do it, you might need to root your phone based on the model) or use wifi if you have for wifi calling.

I don't think jio will buy 700 mhz for the star high prices. set up by the govt . Moreover their issues are mostly due to congestion as they are disabling ca in day time . I think they buy some spectrum in band 3 or b40 ,then save the extra money for investing in 5g , as jio is more focusing towards 5g ,but govt is not releasing any 5g bands for auction except for 700mhz

Jio will definitely buy 700Mhz band. It will be even more expensive in the next auction. So makes sense to buy it in this one.
Moreover, they want to be the first one to start 5G. They are also banking heavily on their hardware not only for themselves but also to sell it to other operators globally. So wouldn't wait for the 5G auctions to come and will start with 700Mhz in this one.
This is my logic, I might be wrong too 🙂

@sudipta chatterjee Jio will be the same after auction because they will primarily focus on topping up spectrum in B3/5/40 only. Purchasing new bands is very less chance.

But Jio will try beefing up spectrum holding in existing bands and if it is sufficient amount for your area means it will ease congestion little bit. Only 5G can de congest Jio.

So after 5G auction Jio will get N78 100Mhz and you will get true 4G speeds after that.

We had our hostel in Mallickbazar. Airtel and Jio were pathetic. One day, we all decided to lodge simultaneous complaints with Jio. We lodged around 100 complaints with Jio. Within 2 months, they installed a new tower next to our hostel. This was around 2018. Airtel and Vodafone did nothing.

It all depends on regional managers around there. Airtel and Vodafone do care on the basis of plan you have. If average spending of users is more , they bother , they don't care otherwise.
If there are more postpaid numbers , they bother to look into it

How are they estimating 8.6 M net additions for Jio in Mar 21? Also how are they are confirming that Airtel Act number are due to MNP from Jio and Vi?
