So a friend of mine is looking to buy an Android phone. He essentially started with a Windows Mobile based HTC smartphone. Switched to Blackberry. Has been using a featurephone for the last couple of months. Now wants an Android device.
His budget is between Rs. 10-12K. He can at max stretch it to Rs. 14K but not above.
I suggested him to take my Galaxy Nexus for Rs. 10K as I would most likely get the Moto X which it is launched this month or next. But he wants to look at options for new phones.
About him? He is a Facebook addict. Other than that his company uses Google Apps. So, needs are quite basic. I do not think he would be running complex games on the phone. Usable camera would be great.
What would you guys suggest?

Ohh, didn't know that. I use my phone for 4 hours gaming, wifi on all the time, facebook, whatsapp, hike running in bakcground always and voice calls for 1 hour and text messaging.

I have xolo q800 since a month and it is awesome. Great battery life- atleast 1 and a half days, no lags, no hangups. Great support from a group in facebook where more than 1000 members are there. Satisfied with it and i will recommend to go for it.
have u used AGPS on it ? how much battery was drained while using it ?

@anant- I have used it but not that much. GPS was pretty fast and locked in a minute or so. Obviously using GPS for extended periods will make battery drain faster. But overall as a package , in it's price range(9-10K) it is pretty good than what samsung or any other brand can't provide in 18-19K. There are service centres of Xolo in Naraina, Janakpuri and other areas, so don't worry about that. 😀

This is where you save most of your battery life. Try enabling EDGE or 3G for a day and report back.

This sounds like a dream phone. 4 hours screen time with 1 hour calling and it still goes for more than a day!

I didn't use xolo play so far but I'm sure it gonna be a good phone too as I'm impressed with the performance of q800, honesty lava is not good as micromax in terms of marketing but they got much better feedback then other Indian brands...
