In the world of business, they call that a loss, yaar. MS wouldn't have spent that much out of their pockets if they weren't sure of earning it back in the long run.

Got the Mandriva 2008 DVD thru LFY. It has a strange warning printed on it.

WARNING
The text-mode installer has an unconfirmed bug that may erase your partition table. We highly recommend that you DO NOT go ahead with an installation if your PC does not support the graphical installer.

Apparently, the warning is sound.

Steve Ballmer can now steal the deal again. He just has to say that Vista only trashes the PC after installation while Mandriva will do it even before it is installed. Excellent argument.

LOL this reminds me of an old fedora release (fc4 was it?) where it screwed with your partition table and you needed to perform special steps to recover your data...
