The Amazon Development Center in Hyderabad has terminated the services of one of its senior operations managers for raising a red flag against alleged violation of labor laws with respect to the company's working hours. The Amazon employee, 31-year-old Vijay Gopal R, is a Hyderabad-based activist and is responsible for several path-breaking reforms from the regulation of school and college fees to free parking. He is the founder of the Forum against Corruption, an independent body that keeps an eye on graft. However, Vijay's four-year journey with Amazon, where he served as an L5 operations manager, came to an end on 27 November when he received a letter of termination.

If you are from Hyderabad, You may recognize this guy who has fought for Free parking when the unofficial parking mafia was at peaks. He's relentlessly fighting for Regulated School fees and even for the rights of Police personnel.

Infamous Amazon for its Labor practices has done what it has always been doing.

Not much difference between Amazon USA and Amazon India TBH. It's just that we do not get to hear the stories from Amazon India warehouse workers. Make Amazon Pay is a great initiative though not sure what exactly is their endgame.

Such things are bound to happen in a labour surplus country like India. Even Jack Ma said something along similar lines when the world was hit by covid.
While we are aware of what Amazon does in USA, atleast they have functioning labour laws, so exploitation, but not to the level of India.
Our laws encourage exploitation in the name of "Ease of doing business."

Work from home is another milch cow for corporations. Its not v unregulated. I know guys who would come home by 7.30-8 before now work anywhere till 12 or 1 at night becauseits WFH.

Is there some uniformity in work done with WFH now since people can't laze off like they do in office

Also, In India, they say mehnat ka phal paiso mein dikhna chahiye.

So, a Warehouse person earns about 25K with 2 years experience (Even a Btech graduate or PG in Midsize MNC) does not get that much, They would complain but less. 😉

Minister of Personnel and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh had said that the Modi government will take necessary actions to make sure employees working in private companies get the minimum wage of Rs 24,000 per month.

The minister further added that the minimum salary ceiling was enhanced from Rs 18,000 per month to Rs 24,000 per month. Singh made it clear that the govt will take strict action against the companies which will not follow the rules.

This is a Joke and can never be Implemented.
