Probably a Mesh WiFi solution? There’s no info on it anywhere except for one or two news reports. Could be something akin to Jio’s offering.

Extend using devices = mesh. Jio already has announced their own mesh solutions so seems logical Airtel would announce it as well.

we would find out soon enough. they might offer the extenders for free for people on high end plans. but these devices cost a lot of money so it seems unlikely because it would just increase their logistics costs unless they charge people for a full year in advance.

I guess they probably will lend out the mesh if you pay in advance for long duration (a year?) higher end plans
Seems like the most logical idea
I doubt many would be willing to invest in a mesh system in one go, it's rather expensive

plus i assume you would not own the mesh. plus it would be probably from some unknown chinese brand.

@Sushubh the news article at telecom talk says it will be either Huawei or Linksys !
On a different note : do we have an indian company that manufactures routers ? ( iball imports from China , if u count that )

Do India manufacturer anymore kind of modern processors and other chips? I assume no. So basically ignore the anti-China propaganda and focus on making your life convenient.

Just got this update on Airtel Thanks app which talks of Fiber Plus in its description. Couldn't find any thing inside. SmartSelect_20200806-231617_Google Play Store.jpg

I used a cat5 cable and an old router with same ssid to extend my wireless network range 😁
Works most of the time.

Tip - You can also put your 2nd router in bridge mode making it act as a dummy AP where DHCP and other settings will be handled by the main router
Makes switching more seamless
