I think the age of cheap broadband is over. Milk us to death! and TRAI not asking to vacate the stay at madras highcourt to reduce landline station fees.

Cool

for 150gb mtnl mum charges 2400 odd(vdsl) so the pricing data wise more or less seems to be standard across isp's.

These plans have been discreetly existent since November or December last year. I've been using the 175GB@4mbps since January. At first it's tariff was Rs. 2399 until it was hiked from the month of April. There's free talk time of 1000 local minutes. The same applies for 250GB@4mbps and it's tariff is actually Rs. 3399 (Earlier it was Rs. 3099 and then a 10% hike was applied). Expensive indeed.

I can do with around 200-250 GB per month. The sad thing is even if Beam or ACT are available in my area, they'd cost the same or more. It's just that the speeds are also likely to be more than Airtel. But, I wonder how good are their uptime.

Beam has been rock solid for over over 2 years.
ACT on the other hand however .. lot of complaints here and elsewhere on the internet.

ACT (Chennai) appears to be more reliable than ACT(Bangalore).
In Chennai, the 'Cable mafia' seems to be non-existent. So that helps.
