Airtel latency spikes (chennai)

For the past few weeks I have been experiencing latency spikes with my airtel broadband. I'm in chennai. Anyone else in chennai experiencing same problem?Usually I will get 60~80ms pings to singapore/hongkong and 200~300 pings to european servers. but for the past few weeks, half the time they are spiking to like 300ms to singapore/hongkong, and 500+ for EU servers. I'm not even mentioning US servers. pathetic for online gaming. why such spiking? are they messing with routing? :upset:_

u r not the only one facing this .... been having this problem for a month or 2, magically pings get normal after 8 ... god help us, not just gaming, my work sessions gets messed up by this as i use remote access to work, i am thinking of getting another isp but in vain cant find ...

Do the spikes occur at random or at certain times? What about the weekends?What are the IPs that you're facing problems with?

lol my ping spikes up from morning and stays till like 7 pm, every days. some times the weekends are normal. and any asian ip whose ping should be less than 100 ms i get from 240 to 350, and american and europe servers i get 400 to 600 ms.

exactly same times in my case also.

I'm having this connection from 2004. I don't want to leave airtel, as I think all Indian ISP's are mostly same. but if any ISP has good pings without other hiccups I'll switch.

216.185.109.70 (at present 2:55 pm 16/1/13 I get 360ms ping but evening and nights I get ~60/80ms)

Unfortunately, there is no way I can check ping times before 7pm on weekdays.But I have listed my average pings to these servers for the sake of reference.These were between 11:20pm - 11:30pm on Thur, 17 Jan '13.Singapore: 39ms (Almost identical pings to all servers here)Hong Kong: 74msUK: 161msGermany:153 to 170msIndia184.75.253.22 : 262ms. evening and night there is no problem. only morning and afternoon these ping spikes are happening.btw where are you situated? chennai?_

I live in Nungambakkam and i have using airtel for a very long time over 6 years... and i have this ping issue during the day for over 2 months now and during night it magically gets better.. have complained to airtel multiple times but they refuse to accept that its their problem as always. I pay over 2k per month for internet for this pathetic service and unfortunately in chennai there are no other ISP.. wish i was in another city like hyd where I dont have to deal with airtel.. I m not sure if airtel will ever gonna solve this or accept that it is their problem!!! maybe we should all visit their office or send them a complaint together......... cos they are robbing us blind!

i take back my words, connection is really bad now, maybe very late at night, the pings get normal ... been suffering .. idk wat to do.

well idk cos chennai doesnt have anyother isp and everyone else currently are worse than airtel
