Airtel is rolling out IPv6 on their wired broadband services

Sridhar .. getting IPv6 here in south chennai. Chip.. So dont think they will be selective in giving IPv6 within a city. I had got ZTE ont with only default IPv4.. had to configure with some help here. You can see previous pages of this. You have another router, not familiar with that.

I am from Ranchi but in my Area ipv6 has a dns enabled but no internet access due to which I can't download any sort of software and games as it fails frequently due to no internet connection. How to fix this as i have only 10% knowledge about ISP and internet.

Hello guys. Since this thread is related to IPv6, I think this is relevant. First, this is the today's result of tracert command:

C:\Users\xxxxxxxxxx>tracert google.com

Tracing route to google.com [142.250.183.78]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Trace complete.

What is going on here? I had started getting IPv6 two months ago at Darbhanga after the router firmware was updated automatically. Airtel also, immediately, sent an SMS that the "network has upgraded".
Now, after 24th, my IPv6 is gone after I did a plan change to the higher speed. Has anyone faced this? I have tried everything but it seems they have disabled IPv6 from their end.

IPV6 is yet to be implemented stably nationwide by Airtel. There is very little reason that your IPV6 is disabled due to plan change, I'd suggest you reset your Airtel Provided ONU if you are using that, in order to make sure it is updated with the latest TR069 information regarding WAN.

There have also been some reports that IPV6 does not initialize for customers during the day but instead does happen after 12AM. So maybe a simple reboot at that time might even fix the issue.

I keep saying the same thing! Guys, IPv6 has been NOT been rolled out to all locations. Also, it may or may not function in your area and for your connection. Govt has given time till Dec '22 for a full roll out. Be patient.

I am on a static IPv6 with TPBB and trust me it doesn't make an ounce of a difference other than give me bragging rights that say "Hey yeah, my fibre line is on the next gen addressing system." 🙄 My Airtel connection is on a paid static IPv4. Can I get a v6 address? Sure, I can, but only with DHCP enabled. Do I miss v6 on Airtel? Not a chance. 😀

@T-1000 What do you need IPv6 for ?

Also, you can get IPv6 by doing a pppoe connection on your windows/linux computer (i've tested it and it works 90% of the time) i get assigned a /128.

@Lolita_Magnum & @Chip --- Noted and not pursuing it anymore. Airtel seems very indifferent towards the issue itself anyway. I think these people will keep NAT-ing IPv4 till the end of time. I am also having speed issues at times.

@SniperX To say the truth, things feel snappier when IPv6 works.

@T-1000 there is a small overhead to NATting which v6 addresses dont have. You may find it snappier also because most traffic is on the v4 gateway not v6. That said, dont waste your time getting an IPv6..it'll come whenever they roll it out fully. Solution to NAT is a static IPv4..@ 199 +GST a month.
