airtel broadband in Linux platform

hi allcan any one tell that. are u able to browse using airtel broadband ( beetel 220bx adsl2+ modem ) in any of the Linux distribution.SUSE,Redhat,Fedora,Ububto..etc .because i tried in all these flavors it is not working .the thing in all the version when i tried to ping my modemie. 192.168.1.1 ( my default gateway and Modem ip ) i got " destination host not reachable ".i made all the config perfect. NIC ip address,DNS,Gateway etc.but still i'm not able ping.But the same setup work fine in WindowsXP. i'm able to ping and browse.is there any setting in modem which i have to do ?thanks.

r u using the LAN connection or the USB connection? If u r using LAN then theres no problem. Incase u r using USB, u need to install the appropriate drivers...

i'm using LAN connection.
